‘THE COLONY’

The story begins on the eve of a new century… 2399 Dec 31. The United Solar System (USS) is in a celebratory fervor. Humans have built a great galactic empire across the Solar System with numerous alien civilizations now subjected to the rule of Emperor Maximus Corculum. The Hypo, a regenerative nano technology, has kept him perpetually young, and allowed him to rule since the Empire’s foundation in 2100. In 2050, at the beginning of the Empire after the first alliances with the Martians, a consortium known as the Five Fathers formed the current government. In 2065, as the new home was being built, Maximus became the first to get the Hypo and become an immortae. The new home known as The Colony, an artificial celestial body in orbit around old Earth (Gruwell) opposite The Moon. Only the top 2% of humanity, the genetically superior humans populate The Colony.
Gruwell (the ancient home world) is an apocalyptic wasteland. Its remaining occupants have been subjected to genetic mutations caused by the degraded environment and radiation. These mutants, known as Gruwellians, are treated like second-class citizens due to their freakish appearances.
Our story begins with two pilots in the Imperial Air Force, Cato Parthon and Gabriel Ares, who have spent the past four years as SJS/Space Junk Suckers, custodial workers for the cleanliness of outer space. Little do they know their lives are about to change… forever.

WRITING PARTNER
Robert was the recipient of The Blank Theatre’s 22nd Annual Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival award in 2014. A semifinalist at the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California and a State Champion at the National Forensics League, Robert has a great adoration for acting. He has performed at a number of spoken-word salons including Spark-Off Rose and Tasty Words with real life stories from his personal memoirs. He has several published articles with yDailyVoice.com. He resides in Valley Village, California.
