MUSIC BREAK
Cyn: And tonight we are headed over to Silverlake to see an outdoor movie.
TITLE: Cynthia Troyer, screenwriter
Cyn: The movie is Spaceballs. And we’re gonna hear a band – a band with some of my friends playing. And they’re called The Whole Damn Fam. So ah – let’s go to Silverlake.
Cyn VO: I jumped in the car and headed for Silverlake.

Cyn: Whooo!
Rep of SLPS: If you’re new to the area and you haven’t been around, what you’re sitting in is called the Sunset Triangle Plaza and it’s actually an historic space in terms of Los Angeles. It is the first space in LA that is a public – that was a street open to vehicle traffic and was closed down and reopened specifically for pedestrian use. There’s a lot of other models of this happening in different parts of the country. But this space is the first for it to happen in Los Angeles. It was actually entirely an experiment. When the City came up with the idea to ah – along with some really amazing organizations – ah People Streets, Silverlake Improvement Association, ah Silverlake Neighborhood Council, when they came together to come up with this idea, they were all kinda nervous because they didn’t know how it was gonna work out. They didn’t know that we were going to put a free outdoor movie theater here, and never give it back to the cars. So, thank you guys for ah – for coming in this space. This is our space. It’s a public space. So we can bring art here, we can bring discussions here, debates –
TIME CUT
Rep of SLPS: So I encourage you all, if you have a creative idea to utilize this space as your own. Because this is our space.
TIME CUT
Rep of SLPS: We are in year four of the SilverLake Picture Show. We’ve been doing it for four years and you guys have been with us the whole time
TIME CUT
Rep of SLPS: Charles Norris! Where you at Charles? Let’s give it up for Charles everybody! Charles is on the SilverLake Picture Show staff. Charles is responsible for selecting which short films we show this year.
CN: If you’re really truly, truly feeling it can I get like “how you guys doing tonight?”
Cyn & Audience: Alright, Alright!
Cyn VO: They showed a few short films before the feature.
Rep of SLPS: Welcome to the SilverLake Picture Show. I just want to remind everybody that The Whole Damn Fam is selling their albums, over by where we’re selling T-shirts. And also they are selling their ah – homemade Spaceballs crew member helmets. So if you wanna get one of those homemade Spaceballs crew member helmets, they made ’em. They’re over there by Brian who’s holding them up right now.
TIME CUT
Rep of SLPS: Alright, guys. And without further ado, we’ve got a little surprise for ya.
TITLE: Bill Pullman, Lone Star
BP: It’s been almost 20 years since the story of Spaceballs was first told to the world by Mel Brooks, many answers were given. But more questions remain such as whatever happened to Spaceballs 2? And where is Lone Star now? I’m here to tell you – 20 years later – I am Lone Star.
CHEERING
BP: I have come to tell you – the mighty audience of the SilverLake Picture Show something of my life in these last 20 years. I am right now in New Mexico in a new version of Area 51. Interesting, huh? But look around you it is not Area 51. I’m not allowed to reveal to you the exact nature of Area 51 since I’ve hired myself out to Independence Day to do that story. But Lone Star lives here. And one of the rumors I want to address now is that the offspring of Lone Star has been believed to become Spaceballs. The truth is they have equipped themselves in disguise of Spaceballians. And they occasionally appear in musical entertainments as Spaceballs. But they are and will always be the offspring of the true Lone Star. May The Schwartz Be With You!
Audience Cheers!
